The Winning Tongue Plate Half Cheek Bit with Extended Plate corrects breathing problems, and stops displacement of the soft palate. Similar to the full cheek, the half cheek helps to turn the horse without pulling the bit through the mouth.

The Extended Plate (also known as the EP) removes the need for tongue tying in horses that consistantly get their tongue over the bit.

Used among harness horse racing or disciplines involved using a driving bit. The half cheek reduces the risk of catching the bit on equipment however it does not completely remove the risk.
