The WTP Dutch Gag 4 Rings Normal Plate (also known as the Universal) is an ideal bit for horses that are fussy in the mouth but tend to be strong and bare down on the bit.

The Dutch Gag 4 Rings provides move pull power than the Dutch Gag 3 Rings but has a quicker release than the Polo Gag.

The WTP bit design prevent pinching of the tongue, roof rubbing and poor contact. The unique mouth piece reduces the bit pressure by unto 85% and with the arms having limited movement the pressure placed on the horse’s cheeks is also reduced.

The Dutch Gag 4 Rings has two small rings attached to the bottom of the main snaffle ring and one small ring at the top. The top small ring is for the cheek piece to attach to while the small bottom two rings are for the reins to attach to depending on how much pull the rider requires. When used together, these elements create pole pressure helping to slow the horse down.

Fitting the Dutch Gag 4 Rings – Like regular bits, look for 1-2 wrinkles in the skin at the corner of the mouth with around 5mm either side of the mouth to prevent rubbing.

You may find that you need to lift the cheek pieces a hole or two compared to where a traditional snaffle would sit.The WTP logo should be facing the roof of the horses mouth.

It is recommended to use two pairs of reins on this bit one on the main snaffle ring and one on either of the bottom small rings.

This bit has been particularly successful with horses on the hunt field and comes in a 5″ and 5.5″.
